Why join ICA Canada?
Nearly 40 years ago, ICA Canada set out to build the capacity of people within their communitiestowards positive social change. The organization was founded by
people who found courage and excitement in an organization built from within, and whose greatest asset was each other. They envisioned a place that brought their ideas, experience and questions into a common ground, with everyone participating in shared meaning.
ICA Canada is sustained by a vision of participation as more than a tool of change or  methodology. It is an engine that propels people to work towards common goals, and urging community action forward through small changes. We bring people into a process that may transform them or assist them maintain what is most valuable. It is our belief that we need everyone’s wisdom for the wisest result and the biggest impact.
Our members believe in the power of people to collaborate and steer course for themselves in society. They volunteer in our committees, contribute financially, and make up our board. ICA members are our greatest assets; they hold the experience of our approach and knowledge of our impact. They share in applying our intellectual property in their personal, and professional lives.People visiting our website or attending an event often want to know: ‘what is it that you do
exactly?’ Our members are best at answering this question. They do so through stories, through personal experiences, and in the knowledge that they are personally involved in the life of ICA Canada.
Our impact, our identity, and our mission are inseparable from our membership.
Membership Fee and Benefits
In 2017, we are offering an annual membership for $20. The fee covers some of the cost of holding our AGM, taking care of administration costs,mailing quarterly newsletters, and hosting meetings. It entitles each member to vote at the AGM, receive invitations to events and opportunities to participate in the strategic direction of ICA Canada, and also represent ICA in their communities.
Our members have access to the use of our training room to host
events. For a reasonable fee, members can book the room on weekends and weeknights for meetings of up to 18 people. We ask that at least one ICA member be present at the meeting and ask that you facilitate your event in the spirit of ICA Canada’s values.

Members are encouraged to be involved in Courage To Lead training and Leadership Community of Practice, the Il Ngwesi Partnership and Community Engagement Training. We would be delighted if you join these conversations, to share ideas and grow our impact in the communities we serve.
