At the invitation of Maasai tribal elders, ICA Canada began to work with the community of Il Ngwesi, Kenya, in 2006. Using ICA’s methods of group facilitation and community engagement, the community itself initiated, designed, and then implemented their own strategy for combating the rise of HIV in their midst. Today, over 12,000 people have voluntarily been counseled and tested for their status, and the community has become aware and proactive in safeguarding their own health.
