Courage to Lead Takes Root in Nepal

ICA Nepal, in collaboration with ICA Canada, recently hosted a Reflection and Storytelling Workshop on Courage to Lead (CTL) on June 14th in Lalitpur, Nepal, bringing together 10 CTL guides and core team members to celebrate an important milestone in the growth of the program in Nepal.
The workshop marked the completion of Nepal’s first Courage to Lead Study Circle, a 16-session learning journey that included an orientation session followed by in-depth exploration of all twelve chapters of CTL and adapting CTL to Nepal’s socio-cultural realities. Following the recent translation of the book into Nepali, participants engaged with the material entirely in their own language, creating new opportunities for deeper reflection, discussion, and shared understanding.
Throughout the Study Circle, guides not only explored the principles of reflective leadership but also experienced the CTL process as participants themselves. The Reflection and Storytelling Workshop provided an opportunity to pause, look back on that journey, and consider how these experiences can strengthen future facilitation and leadership development throughout Nepal.
Using ICA’s Focused Conversation Method, participants reflected on their personal learning, exchanged facilitation techniques and participatory approaches, and shared stories, challenges, and best practices from their experiences with CTL. They also explored how storytelling can be used as a powerful tool for leadership development, helping people connect personal experience with meaningful action and community change.
The gathering also generated ideas for the future of Courage to Lead in Nepal, reinforcing a shared commitment to expanding reflective leadership opportunities and supporting new facilitators as the program continues to grow.
ICA Canada extends its heartfelt congratulations to the ICA Nepal team, facilitators, senior guides, and all participants for reaching this significant milestone. Seeing The Courage to Lead translated, studied, and now facilitated in Nepali reflects the power of collaboration and the growing global community of reflective leaders.
As these conversations continue, we look forward to seeing the insights, relationships, and leadership practices developed through this work ripple outward into communities across Nepal. adapting CTL toNepal’s socio-cultural realities
